The Cardinal

Cardinal with Bokeh, originally uploaded by Uncle Phooey.

I'm having coffee with the Northern Cardinal. He (I know for a fact that it's a boy, because he's red from beak to toe [toe?]) is sitting outside on a branch and not singing for me but for the cardinal ladies in the area. I am almost trying to work on an essay. But it's hard, because there are no cardinals in it, not even a feather.

How very beautiful and distracting he is!

Amazing, isn't he? I completely fell in love. And there are so many of them here!

They are so pretty! I forgot how nice they are. Are there any such colourful birds flying around Poland or Europe? I had never really given much thought about birds before, but do remember when I came over to Europe a few years ago that I definitely noticed magpies since I had never seen it and like something about its look. I must admit that due to the shortage of bird-sightings here in Korea, I kind of got excited a week or so ago when I saw a magpie on my way to work!

That's the thing: I haven't seen such crazy-colored birds in Europe. Maybe I wasn't looking as carefully as here... but wow these birds are beautiful!
